Instructors Bio
Melissa Baron’s interest in art was first piqued at a creative writing camp for teenagers in a cartooning class. Her reluctance quickly gave way to delight, and this led to her practicing art at every opportunity. She feels she is fortunate to combine her love of art with her other passion: teaching art full-time at Ecole Secondaire Beaumont Composite High School.
Melissa studied at the University of Alberta, and at Julian Ashton Art School in Sydney, Australia and still takes classes from local and international artists. In her creative practice, she works intuitively with images from daily life, integrating symbolism and text. Her work is informed by plein air watercolour painting, especially as she travels. She is inspired by nature, especially mountains and skyscapes.
