The Board of Directors and the Management of Where Edmonton Community Artists Network (W.E.C.A.N.) Society/Harcourt House Artists Run Centre are excited to announce the successful completion of the fundraising campaign to secure the ownership of the Harcourt House Property, and to make this home of nearly 37-years permanent, stable, and sustainable.
As the result of the remarkable faith in this institution that was demonstrated by the people in Edmonton, in Alberta, and across Canada, we celebrate the completion of our quest to make Harcourt House Artist Run Centre secure for the future generations of the artists and available to diverse communities in Edmonton and beyond. Today, we are finally able to say that we will be proceeding with the purchase of Harcourt House and make this place we have called home for so long, permanent.
Harcourt House Artist Run Centre is extremely grateful to the Department of Canadian Heritage, the Ministry of Alberta Arts, Culture and Status of Women, and the City of Edmonton for their contributions and recognition of the important role our institution plays in supporting the vibrancy of the cultural landscape in Alberta and in Canada. Also, our special words of gratitude go to Maggie and John Mitchell, the Cam and Dawn Allard Foundation, the Flanagan Foundation, other major contributors who have requested to remain anonymous, and to every person who has contributed through our GoFundMe campaign. Whether the contribution was five dollars or one million, every bit has helped us reach this moment. Harcourt House will be eternally grateful for the faith expressed by each in making a commitment to us.
The W.E.C.A.N. Society/Harcourt House Artist Run Centre is excited about the future. The acquisition of the buildings and associated land currently inhabited by the Harcourt House Artist Run Centre opens tremendous opportunities for further growth and enhancement of the visual arts in Alberta and in Canada.
Spaces like Harcourt House Artists Run Centre are vital to artists staying in Canada and contributing to the cultural and economic vibrancy of our provinces and cities.
