Hosted by Robert Thorne a.k.a. Agata Gogh, this workshop will walk the participants through all the steps of painting a 12” x 16” canvas during a 3-hour session. No background in painting is required as this workshop is about having fun, experimenting with colours and forms, and learning how to make yourself a cute art. There will be music and a performance during the class, and this workshop is considered as a BYOB bohemian event. So, please feel free to bring your own bottle of wine, a few beers, or whatever else you want to drink during this bohemian session. The nibbles will be provided by Harcourt House. Please note this is a shared facility, so please be respectful during the class, as other artists might be working in their respective studios. Excellent course for the novices in visual culture. There is room for the maximum of 12-15 participants in the class, so don’t forget to sign up before it fills up!
Material required: Though all supplies will be provided in the class, participants may bring their own brushes if they so desire.
Instructor: Robert Thorne a.k.a. Agata Gogh is an Edmonton-based artist, graphic designer, and the recent graduate in Design Studies at MacEwan University. Robert’s artwork has been a subject of several art exhibitions in alternative art spaces around Edmonton. His performances have been featured in various local venues, while his popular drag shows have been hosted at Evolution, Have Mercy, Coral Plaza, the Buckingham, and Crash Hotel. Says Thorne: “… my goal is always to be an entertainer, to spread some colour and fun in the world, to help the queer community by increasing its visibility, and to help people understand exactly what it is to be a queer and why there is nothing wrong with that …”
