These volunteer opportunities offer valuable hands-on experience and transferable skills, as well as opportunities to network with visual artists, curators, academics, and other arts professionals.
Volunteer Opportunities
Exhibition Assistants: Abstraction Now / Not Solid – Exhibitions Dismantling
Location: Main Gallery and Haakonson Family Gallery (3rd Floor)
Dates: June 22–23, 2026
Tasks:Assist with exhibition dismantlingPack and prepare artworks for storage or transportPrepare gallery spaces for upcoming exhibitions
Requirements:Attention to detailAbility to safely handle and lift artworks
Exhibition Assistants: 34th Annual Naked Show + Art Sale – Installation and Dismantling
Location: Maggie & John Mitchell Art Education Studio, Annex Building
Installation Dates: June 13, 15 -16, 2026
Dismantling Dates: July 2–3, 2026
Tasks:Prepare exhibition spacesPaint walls and plinths (interior and exterior)Unpack and repack artworksAssist with exhibition installation and dismantlingInstall exhibition signage
Requirements:Attention to detailAbility to safely lift and move materials and artworks
Gallery Attendants: 34th Annual Naked Show + Art Sale
Location: Maggie & John Mitchell Art Education Studio, Annex Building
Dates: June 19 – June 30, 2026
Hours: 10 am to 5 pm
Tasks:Welcome visitors and patronsRecord attendanceProvide information about the exhibition and fundraiserAssist with artwork salesHelp package purchased artworks
We are looking for volunteers who are:Friendly and approachableEnergetic and enthusiasticComfortable interacting with the public
Exhibition Assistants: 38th Annual Members’ Exhibition + Art Sale – Installation and Dismantling
Location: Main Gallery and Haakonson Family Gallery (3rd Floor)
Installation Dates: June 27, 29-30, 2026
Dismantling Dates: July 19–21, 2026
Tasks:Assist with artwork installation and dismantlingPrepare gallery spacesHandle, unpack, and repack artworksInstall exhibition signageProvide general exhibition support
Requirements:Attention to detailAbility to safely handle and lift artworks
Harcourt Annual 2026 Open House
Date: Saturday, July 4, 2026
Location: Main and Annex Buildings
Hours: 11:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.
Tasks:Help prepare public viewing areasWelcome and direct visitorsProvide information about exhibitions, activities, and programsGuide guests to artists’ studios and programming spacesHelp maintain a safe and welcoming environment
We are looking for volunteers who are:Friendly and engagingEnergetic and enthusiasticComfortable interacting with the public
Volunteer shifts range from approximately 2.5 to 5 hours. Complimentary snacks and refreshments will be provided.
Exhibition Assistants: Heather Thompson Sound Exhibit / Absence of Presence Exhibit – Installation and Dismantling
Location: Main Gallery and Haakonson Family Gallery (3rd Floor)
Installation Date: July 22, 2026
Dismantling Dates: July 31–August 1, 2026
Tasks:Assist with artwork installation and dismantlingPrepare gallery spacesHandle, unpack, and repack artworksInstall exhibition signageProvide general exhibition support

Exhibition Assistants: Métis Contemporary Art / The Emotional Landscape Exhibitions – Installation
Location: Main Gallery and Haakonson Family Gallery (3rd Floor)
Installation Dates: August 3-4, 2026
Tasks:Assist with artwork installationPrepare gallery spacesUnpack and handle artworksInstall exhibition signageProvide general exhibition support
