July 7 – July 15, 2023
Art Ed Room #1 Harcourt Annex Building
10211– 112 Street NW, Edmonton, AB T5K 1M7
Throughout human history, the artists have portrayed the human figure more often than any other subject. What is it about the human form – – face, hands, body – – that has intrigued the creative eye through the centuries and across cultures? The artwork selected for this exhibition will be presenting a broad range of conceptual and formalistic approaches to the aspect of human form. Featuring drawings, paintings, and sculpture from Harcourt’s Live Model Sessions, the exhibition, “[RE]ConFIGUREd” will focus on the dignity and fragility of the human spirit while allowing the viewers to contemplate the beauty of the human body from the perspective of several stylistic directions in the history of art. Although diverse in style and subject matter, these works of art come together to touch the humanity in us all. They demonstrate the power of the artist to convey our shared experiences in transporting our own “human figures” through this life.
The Annual Naked Show allows our artists to exhibit and sell their work while doubling as a fundraiser for Harcourt House in support of its Harcourt House Artist Run Centre Endurable Fund (Harcourt Buildings Acquisition Campaign). If artists choose to sell their work, Harcourt House will receive a 30% commission included in the price of the sale.
