Dear Friends of Harcourt House Artist Run Centre:
We need your precious time and energy for a volunteer opportunity in support of the Where Edmonton Community Artists Network (W.E.C.A.N.) Society/Harcourt House Artist Run Centre during the organization’s transition from a lessee to an owner.
The W.E.C.A.N. Society/Harcourt House Artist Run Centre is looking for Casino volunteers for its Casino Fundraiser to be held on Friday, August 1 and Saturday, August 2, 2025 at the Grand Villa Casino in downtown Edmonton. We invite you to spend a day or night hanging out with the Harcourt House Team during your Casino volunteer shift on either Friday, August 1 or Saturday, August 2, 2025!
This important Casino Fundraiser only happens once every two years and each volunteer shift raises close to $2,000 for our organization with each Casino Fundraiser raising between $60,000 and $70,000 for our organization’s programming and operating costs and the W.E.C.A.N. Society’s/Harcourt House’s long-term sustainability.
We need 20 volunteers to fill the following positions:
- Cashiers * – responsible for cashing out chips for players and making change. This position requires concentration and accuracy. Cash-handling skills and being a bit street wise are definite assets.
- Chip Runners – responsible for delivering chip orders to and from the table games. Assistance with opening gaming tables. This position is busy at the opening and closing times of the casino.
- Count Room Staff – responsible for sorting, counting, verifying, and amalgamating cash from the table games drop boxes.
NOTE: * Only volunteer positions of a Cashier (marked with asterisk) require filling in the Casino Volunteer Worker Application Form. Should you be interested in a position of a Cashier, please download the form, fill the particulars, sign the document, and email it to Marija Nikolajev, Harcourt’s Facility/Financial Administrator and a Coordinator of the 2025 Casino Volunteers, at info@harcourthouse.ab.ca
No experience is necessary, our Casino advisors will be on site to support and answer any questions you may have. Day shifts (1 pm to 9 pm), night shifts (8:30 pm to 3:15 am), and late-night Count Room shifts (11 pm to 3:15 am) are available.

- Night Shift from 8:30 pm to 3:15 am
One (1) Cashier * and Two (2) Chip Runners
- Late-Night Count Room Shift from 11 pm to 3:15 am

- Saturday, August 2, 2025
- Day Shift from 1:30 pm to 9 pm
Two (2) Cashiers * and Two (2) Chip Runners
- Night Shift from 8:30 pm to 3:15 am

Our Casino Fundraiser will be held at the Grand Villa Casino at Rogers Centre (downtown Edmonton). Complimentary meals/refreshments will be provided for Casino Volunteers.
