Basic Drawing Fundamentals Class
w/Micheal Cor
Members: $150
Non-Members: $170
Tuesdays, August 7 – 21, 6:30 pm – 9:30 pm
This is a drawing class for the absolute novice. Mike Cor will reveal how drawing is a skill that anyone can learn, and is related more to observation and practice, than to inherent skill. If you don’t think you can draw, then this class is for you. The course will cover “how to draw” basics, such as line quality, tonal variation and the gestalt principals of composition. There will be a gesture component and a sustained drawing component. Through various techniques and exercises, students will learn the most important aspect of drawing, the mental ability to see what actually is in an unbiased way and how to document that in a meaningful way. Materials list will be provided, please budget approx $30 to purchase supplies at your local art or dollar store.
Micheal Cor holds an MFA from the Hoffberger School of Painting at the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA), has completed MICA’s College Teaching of Art program, and brings unique perspective to his more than traditional painting courses. He is currently employe as a Technician in the Sculpture Department at University of Alberta and lives and creates his work in Edmonton.
