“In his book Culture of Building, Howard Davis describes the culture of building as the entirety of the built environment not limited to refined, monumental Architecture. A characteristic of building culture is that it links together all buildings; as a response it is germane to consider all disciplines. The three artists in this exhibition, Andrea Carvalho, Dan Gibbons and Kip Jones, each consider building as a place and a process. They embrace the experiential functionality of the built environment from the perspective of the personal, the cultural and the spatial. Each dismantles a perception of big A architecture and reconstructs it into a sculptural object that ponders our relationship with the buildings that surround us.” –Nancy Anne McPhee
