Join instructor Sharon Moore-Foster for an exhilarating workshop exploring human form and energy. Working with clay and using professional live models for inspiration and subject matter, students will explore and sculpt strength, fragility, and grace of human form. The properties of clay, basic anatomy, various sculpting techniques, and the fundamental skills of looking, seeing, and making will be covered over the course of the workshop. Enthusiastic beginners and eager to advance professionals are welcome.
Material required: Please bring your own sculpting tools, a board to work on, old cloth, and lunch. House Artist Run Centre will provide turntables, clay and firing, and some basic sculpting tools.
Sharon Moore-Fosteris an Alberta visual artist and art educator. She has a BFA degree from the University of Alberta, plus post-graduate courses in various fields, most notably 4 years of sculpture (figurative clay and abstract wood and steel).
She believes the mindset of a student is essential to continue to evolve as an artist, seeking new information and developing new skills to express and communicate, and allowing these discoveries to inform and interface with what is held dear.
Sharon uses her visual and literary skills as tools to engage, provoke and elicit inquiry and response to challenging questions – in life and in art.
