Harcourt House Artist Run Centre is accepting submissions for our 2019/2020 Artist in Residence (AIR) program. The residency will be for a period of one year, starting on November 1, 2019 and ending October 31, 2020. Deadline for Submissions: April 30, 2020
The Artist in Residence project was created in 2002 by the Board of Directors of Harcourt House Artist Run Centre (WECAN Society) with the aim of contributing to the development of an emerging artist. The program provides the artist with a stable working environment, and helps with the maintenance of a professional studio space and artistic practice. The project is open to artists who are Canadian residents working in any visual art media including: sculpture, painting, printmaking, digital art, mixed media, photography, film, and video.
The Resident is provided with the following: a studio in the Harcourt House facility with 24 hour access free of charge, a complementary one-year WECAN Society membership, parking stall, access to 2D +3D Drop-Ins held at Harcourt House, and an allowance of $150.00 per month for material and supply costs, up to a total of $1,800.00 for the duration of the Artist in Residence program at Harcourt House. Artist will also be provided with the gallery space to present an exhibition of his/her work developed during the residency at Harcourt House’s Main Gallery in the final month of the residency. The AIR will receive CAR/FAC fees for the presentation of this exhibition.
Applicants will be selected by the quality of work submitted, their demonstration of commitment to serious practice and how the residency will meet their objectives at this crucial juncture in the development of their practice.
